The Problem
Our current "Address" field is a simple text box. We are seeing a high rate of ambiguous or incomplete addresses.
For example, a guest will enter "123 Main Street" but not a city or zip code. This is a significant problem because "123 Main Street" can exist in many different cities. This leads to incorrect booking data, confusion for our team, and potential scheduling errors.
The Solution
We can solve this by integrating the Google Places API Autocomplete service into the address field.
This service works in two parts:
Address Prediction: As the guest starts typing their address, a dropdown menu appears showing a list of full, validated address suggestions from Google Maps.
Address Validation: When the guest clicks the correct suggestion, the system automatically fills in all the separate, structured components (Street, City, State, Zip Code, and Country).
Key Benefits
Guarantees Data Accuracy: We will capture the complete, correct, and unambiguous address for every single booking.
Improves User Experience: It's much faster and easier for the guest. They don't have to type their full address, and it prevents typos.
Reduces Errors: This will eliminate the "same address, different city" problem and ensure our bookings are associated with the correct location.
